Cosmetics to Germany

I just got a message about the cost of sending a mascara to Germany. I noticed on some other sellers cosmetics items they state they can't post to Germany because of some law or other. Does anyone know what or why?? Thx.

You cannot send cosmetics to Germany that aren't in the original packaging. This applies to testers as well.

edit: I meant to say that testers cannot be sold/posted to Germany.

Can some one point out to where these regulations are? I have just sent a large quantity of health supplements to a buyer in Germany and they are bidding on some other items of mine. How do I find out if these are on the banned list?

I didn't think there was any trade barriers in the EU anymore!

not sure, something to do with GMA
German customers should be aware that the German Medicines Act (GMA) restricts many dietary supplements from being shipped to Germany. Since we cannot easily determine which items can and cannot be shipped to Germany, our policy is to NOT SHIP ANY SUPPLEMENTS TO GERMANY

Just googled this and can't find anything except what people on ebay have stated. Royal Mail doesn't mention this on their website.

Yeah, probably better to say you can't ship to Germany. Germany have so many laws.
