Buyer's changed her mind

I sold some DVD's yesterday and now I've had a message from the buyer saying sorry but they cannot continue with the sale as someone has given them one of the DVD's they've bought.
Why do buyers think they can just pull out on a whim?

i accepted a best offer from someone but was then told that they had since been given the item by a friend and no longer wanted it. after checking items the buyer had recently bid on i noticed they had won the same item for a bit less than the best offer they had made. she agreed to pay my fees and i relisted.0

rose-sparky Wait 7 days and go through the NPB process. If the buyer asks why explain very nicely and politely that you 'have to ' go through this process to reclaim your FVFs.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soo, will do.
Trouble is, the next highest bidder will have gone off the boil and if I'm not mistaken I will still be out of pocket if I claim the FVFs?0 -
If that happened to me i'd still pay and re-sell or give away the duplicate. Some people have no morals.0

If you wait and go through the full NPB process and then relist *and* your item sells again on the relist you will get back the second lot of basic listing fees.
It is blooming irritating though.

I sell beds and mattresses on ebay. We deliver direct from the factory (in most cases they are made to order). As soon as we receive an order we order from the factory. So you can imagine how frustrating it is when people do change their mind.
I have had all sorts of excuses, the most common is that one of their children must have been messing about on the computer, and clicked to by a mattress by mistake:rotfl: Then there are the people who simply deny making the purchase.
Under ebay's rules once you click commit to buy, then it is a legally binding contract. However we give a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so if we insisted that they continue with the purchse, then they could just return it at our expense, so we just have to grin and bear it
