Staircase

Having major renovations at the moment. Would soon be in a position to order a staircase. Who/where would be the best place to start. Is it something a carpenter can do or are there people who specialise in staircases.
I would really appreciate it if others can share their experiences. I live in the Kent area.

Well. It kind of depends how much of your staircase you're thinking of replacing?
Last year we replaced just our starrail and ballustrades and newel posts. We found a staircase shop and they sorted us out with everything we needed and they recommended a joiner who came and fitted it. He was very good too.
I was a bit daunted by the job at the start but it turned out to be much easier than I thought and hardly any mess.
If you're thinking of replacing your whole staircase though then I can imagine that's a totally different kettle of fish.0 -
I would need a completely new staircase.-Keep your eyes to the sunshine and you would not see the shadows-

I would need a completely new staircase.
Is it going to be carpeted or a feature? Standard height (rise) and width or is it to fit in a defined space? 'Off the peg' staircases often less expensive but normally produced for 'standard' 2600mm floor > floor. i.e. really depends upon what you are after where you go. Same goes for balustrading, landing rails etc.0 -
