Villa or Hotel/Apartment

I'm going away for 2 weeks in Oct, probably to Menorca but I am torn between a Villa and a hotel.
There will be 5 of us - myself, my wife a 5yo and a 2yo......and my 20yo niece is coming for some R+R.
I've seen hotels and villas that I like and have a list of positives for both choices

Villa

Private pool for kids.
Garden for youngest to run about in.
Larger living area
Better facilities...ie BBQ, Oven, Fridge/freezer, washing machine
Freedom to eat in/out whenever we want
Not much more expensive than S/C in a small aparthotel
Easier to supervise the kids

Hotel

AI, so food and drink costs covered, but still with freedom to eat out now and again
Kids Club
Larger pool for kids
Evening entertainment

Has anyone done both? If so what did you prefer? I know they are complete opposites, but I am happy with either.
Has anyone hired a villa in Cala'n Bosch before - I've seen a couple I like but can't find any reviews?
I stayed in Cala'n Bosch last year in the Paradise Club and Spa Aparthotel on a S/C basis for 1 week but would consider a different hotel, on an AI basis if that's the route I end up going down.

We prefer a villa (2 children) but that it just our preference but generally I doubt a villa holiday (decent accommodation) works out at a similar price to AI hotel ~ our experience is that it costs quite a bit more although we do tend to eat out quite a bit. With regard to your preference list tend to agree however we have found we can take the children to ANY nearby hotel in the evening where we/they can enjoy the evening entertainment (I use the word enjoy loosely!) for just the price of buying a drink or two at the bar. Normally you will meet more families in a hotel ~ but maybe you don't want this!
