E-on Win back tariff... Help needed

Hi All

I recently switched from E-on to Scottish Power saving £20 a month for duel fuel with Online Fixed Price Energy till 2013 and paying DD £106 per month.

I had E-on try and take money for the final bill from my account a week early and was not notified and had not transferred sufficient funds to the account as i was not expecting it, so will be charged by the bank.

I called E-on and the frontline agent said he didnt have authority to reduce bill by £15, but suggested he was able to take our bill down to around £56 a month!!!!!

He mentioned a win back tariff but when asked about fixed prices etc, i didnt really get a straight answer, but said id like info to be sent out. At the end of the call he said he'd transfer me to an automated message about terms, which then seemed like he was switching me back. I know i have a cooling off period of 14 days, but i didnt agree to the switch, but keen to see how they can reduce my bill by that much now, when they couldnt match or beat Scottish Power before i left?

Should alarm bells ring and does anyone have experience of this?
Any advice will be of great help

Thanks
Steve

Hi brandshout and welcome to the forum,

Right first thing, the payments, the money we took from your bank account a week early for the final bill, could this have been your regular Direct Debit payment?

Because we wouldn't have known how much to take if we hadn't produced the final bill?

Do you know what tariff you were offered? what were the calculations for the savings?

let me know if I can help further :)

    Helena :)

For peace of mind, the best course of action is to contact SP and advise them that you have not agreed to any switch. Ask them to reject any attempt to switch you at this time.

Contact E.on (website, email or post) to cancel the switch anyway.

E.on could have agreed only to reduce your DD - NOT your bills. The cheaper tariff from SP will reduce your bills (over a full year).
