I don't seem to be able to sustain the growth of my Watercress after germination and reaching 4 or so inches in height..The pack says to water copiuosly and stand in a depth of 2 inches of water (if in pots), keep in partial shade.
I know some people on here are succesful with Watercress for months at a time and wonder if you have any advice. Thanks.

Just pop along to Waitrose, buy some organic watercress, with some white roots showing

Bung it into a pond / bucket or whatever, sit back & wait
I have had mine [ in Hampshire pond] for over two years now

Much less trouble, and now in flower

That sounds an effective way to do it. Is your pond natural ? Just remembered that Arlesford is Hants and famous for W.cress.

last year i germinated seed in pots and followed the instructions to the letter, changing water etc etc and all i had was a 2 inch high seedling. i got so fed up i threw it in the pond, within a month i had enough water cress to feed the street lol.

i thought the bad winter would kill it off but it didnt and its growing jus as strong, in fact i have broke bits off for other people to put in their ponds and its still taking over

No, just a tiny little pond, about 4 foot or so, with a fibre glass "waterfall" that TBH I can wee faster than it :D

I only switch the pump on in summer, and then only if I remember

I do not have massive watercress sarnies, just use it for a garnish really

PS forgot to say, eat most of the Waitrose watercress and just use the rooty bits. This time of year it will be away in a flash
