Today I was at a friend's house trying to sort her pc which she knew had problems possibly with a dialer having been downloaded.
Just want to run through what I have done and in what order and to check what should be done next.
I started with the newest version of Adaware which threw up 109 critical problems. I then put on Spybot, followed by Spyware Blaster. I decided to do a Health Check which gave us Troj_dldr.ct which it couldn't "repair" so I deleted as by then I had to leave it for another day. Still waiting on the email from AVG so I can install that on Thursday.
Will also download Firefox and Thunderbird but meantime it is now throwing up the beige boxes saying there is a problem with Messenger.
Tonight there is at least one happy teenager who can access the internet for his homework for the first time since March!
Anything else I should be doing and in which order

Get a firewall so you don't have to do it all again shortly.. I use Zonealarm alongside Googles toolbar (for popups) and don't have many problems0

Those Grey Boxes could be due to the Messenger Service (Not related to MSN Messenger at all...just Microsoft being funny I guess).
Go Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
In the long list find 'Messenger'. Right Click on it, and choose Properties. In the Drop Down box, change the 'Startup Type' to 'Disabled'.0
