Petrol lawnmower woes
Every person i seem to speak to treat me like an idiot.............so here goes......i have a petrol lawnmower that was given to me that has oil in the air filter. I have bought a new one but want to know whats best to do before i put the new one in incase that gets it in as well.
I think there may be some residue left in the cylinder head....any advice?
Thanks,

Read the instructions first, some air filters need oil in to work properly. Has the machine been serviced and possibly sharpened? If not may well be an idea to consider.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I know how I managed to get oil into my air filter. I thought my lawn mower was 2 stroke, so added oil to the petrol, after a couple of uses the air filter was sodden with oil, so had to remove it. Oh well, you live and learn.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

the kind of advice i was offered elsewhere.....no instructions 20 years old. It works fine as ive taken the air filter out and it goes like a dream. Just need to know how to ensure no oil residue left when i put new filter in. my idea is to tip it up a few times with spark out then fire it up and hope itll run clear affter a splutter??0

Plenty of sites with info onon google, even for 20yr old machines.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
