Displayed the wrong ticket, do you think I can appeal?

Can anyone offer any advice? Yesterday I parked in a Euro Car Park in Manchester, I paid the £5.80 fee in the pay and display machine using my debit card and displayed the ticket it produced clearly on my dashboard.
When i got back to my car about 8.30pm well within my time (paid for 12 hours at about 2.30pm) I had been given a parking ticket for not displaying a valid ticket. On closer inspection of the ticket it looks like foolishly I displayed the debit card receipt, however this was the only ticket that the machine issued. The 'receipt' is printed on the same paper as a 'ticket' with the words "please display ticket on dashboard" on the top. It also clearly states that I had paid £5.80 and states the time 14:16 that I paid for my parking.
I want to appeal but also I do not want to get myself into trouble by not paying. Should I just bite the bullet and pay and put it down to experience or try and fight it?
Thanks for any advice in advance:o

There is nothing to appeal you paid,.wait for them to get in touch, send a copy of your receipt say the matter is closed, and any further action will be harassment,From the Plain Language Commission:

You paid, you owe them nothing.... I want to appeal but also I do not want to get myself into trouble by not paying. Should I just bite the bullet and pay and put it down to experience or try and fight it?
Waste of time appealing, they will decline it.
No need to pay, or to fight - just ignore all their rubbish threatening letters. Euro have never taken anyone to court, as they know their speculative demands are not enforceable.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
You did pay - how could you get into trouble? You paid the parking fee required, and while you didn't display the ticket, you DID display a receipt clearly showing you have paid.
They will write demanding a stupid amount of money. You can do as Half Way says - or just ignore them entirely. You have done NOTHING wrong, so feel free to forget all about it0 -
the ticket you were given is an impersonation of authority fake.
They have no authority to fine you, nor can they sue you as they will loose.
however they will be making lots of threats in letters and impersonating other types of Authority, such as debt collectors and solicitors.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Don't waste any time or worry with appealing to these scammers. You paid and you demonstrated that - they have nothing to pursue you on and its not likley they would anyway.
check the forum sticky to see their letter chain and just count them down till they give-up. The less contact you have now, the quicker they will give-up.

Lou- you made the classic mistake that so many people make when they are handed one of these.
YOU THOUGHT IT WAS REAL!!
It isn't. It has no authority whatever, as my friend Vax says, it is the "impersonation of authority" scam.
Only tickets issued by Councils or the Police need to be taken seriously!
This one does NOT need to be taken seriously. For a start, you did absolutely nothing wrong and you can prove it.
And to continue, if you treat it with the contempt it deserves there is nothing whatever that this company can or will do. Though they will promise you court, bailiifs, the works, all you will get is the letters, after they realise you are NOT a mug they will stop wasting time and money writing, and they go away.
Don't waste your time "appealing" it just sucks you into a pointless correspondence; the rejection letter has aleady been printed, they only need to add your details to it.

I wonder how many of the people involved in this impersonation of authority scam got the idea from the art of knocking on old ladies doors and pretending to be from the waterboard whilst robbing them ?
Its only a very small step away, just done with fake tickets and letters .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Yep, straight in bin is best. As you paid by card the proof is always there.
Agree with you Vax. Though now it's the REAL water companies that rob the old ladies...... and everyone else too.
Also like the scam where the guy knocks at the door and tells the OAP that their roof is defective and charges them thousands to "fix" it.... same sort of money for doing nowt mentality.0
