Beware: Wrong link on Virgin Trains website

The link 'London to Manchester £18' on Virgin Trains website buys you ticket from 'Manchester to London'. I have contacted Virgin Trains Customer Service repeatedly, but no one has gone to the trouble of rectifying that mistake. I have been stung and made a costly mistake of buying the tickets in the reverse/wrong direction of my intended journey. Anybody stung similarly? I bought my tickets a week back (on 17th May) and even after a week (today 23rd May), the link is still wrong. :(

Hope someone at the Virgin Trains will look into it so that others aren't put into such costly and unwanted trouble and anxiety.

    Where is that link then?

I can see a link "Manchester to London £18.00 standard" on this page, but that links to fares from Manchester to London, as it should.
Have they now made the correction?

I can understand you must be kicking yourself for buying the wrong tickets, but I really don't think you have been "stung".

It is the link on their homepage below "Get where you want to be… for less" London to Manchester £18. Please click on that and see which ticket window opens.

I didn't buy a wrong ticket - I was issued a wrong ticket. So, I had to buy a costly new ticket at the station to make this journey, that is why I said 'stung'. VT now agree that it was their fault and have agreed to refund the Advance ticket purchased online, but refusing to refund the costly ticket purchased at the station. It would have been logical to get a refund for the costly ticket rather than the cheap Advance ticket from my point of view. :(

So I guess you can't post links. Nevermind.

    On their homepage I see...

When I click on the bit in the black oval, I get...
    2nlspw3.png

Note that the direction, Manchester to London remains the same.

I suppose it could be related to any cookies you or I have on our computers.

Anyway, that aside, I really do think you must take some responsibility for buying the wrong tickets.
You are given several oportunities, at least two before the need to login, to confirm the booking before paying.

Unless you are actually saying that all the way through the booking London to Manchester tickets were showing, but when the tickets arrived they were for the reverse direction.

I got this on the Virgin home page

Clicking on the London Manchester link took me to this

So, the OP is correct in what they say. It's easy to say the OP should have spotted it but I think it would have caught me.

P.S. the routes on the home page change when you click back.

Don't let them away with this, they should be refunding the ticket you had to but. You could threaten them with small claims court action but make sure you write to them, giving them an opportunity to put it right, if you are going to do that.

And write to them, with proof of posting, don't communicate by phone or email.

Yes, but when I booked last week, it went through the London-Manchester link correctly all the way through, even the email confirmation. It was only the tickets from the machine that were wrong. :( So not my fault at all.

I think VT has tried fixing the link after my repeated complaints and now it is only the link in the front page which is wrong.

Me too - I also see London to Manchester.

I doubt VT care though, it seems the virgin group are too busy trying to persecute the terminally ill to give a stuff about real customer service - click this
