Halifax £100 DD Switch Bonus? When can I close Account?

Hey
I'm primarily with Natwest but having never tried another provider I was curious and opened an account with Halifax after seeing I can get £5 a month for putting my wages in and a further £100 for switching my direct debits to them.
After doing all this, I've found that I've had nothing but bad service from Halifax and I now don't want anything else to do with them.
My question is, that £100, does anyone know if there's a time where they can claim that back? I'd rather sit it out if it they're going to try and claim it back and close it after the relevant period.
Thanks!
Daryl

Hi,
I would recommend you still keep your halifax reward account as that £5 a month is very nice to have
But with regards to the hassle and poor service, which i've also experienced from Halifax as well unfortunately. Well i would say you don't have to do your main banking with Halifax, you could just move your wages, standing orders and direct debits back over to Natwest. I have online banking with Halifax and with my main account with lloyds, all i do is make a payment of £1000 in and out of my Halifax accounts once a month. It takes just 5 minutes, i don't have the hassle or problems that happen in branch, and i get paid £5!!
So i would recommend you still keep your halifax reward account open, but switch your main banking back over to Natwest and try online banking to make the payments in and out of your halifax account.
However, if you really have had enough of Halifax and have decided you just want to move on from them completely. Then i think that after one month of completing the switch they do a check on your account to see if you are still meeting the original conditions. For example, paying your salary/wages in, have direct debits set up and active etc. If you don't still meet the conditions then they can take their £100 switch incentive back from. So i would give it at least 5 weeks just to be sure...
Also, with the first option of switching your main banking back to Natwest, i would also wait at least 5 weeks before moving your wages and direct debits over.
Hope that helps
