Wednesday 23rd May - What small DFW things will you do today??

Posts: 853 Forumite

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. :money:
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :T
Morning everyone. Got so much done yesterday by working from home; both work stuff and home stuff by cutting out the commute. Did 4 loads of washing, including all the beds, and all the covers off the settee.
Also booked a couple of weekends camping with the boys in and around the Peak District. Not exactly MSE, but not expensive either.
Today is forecast to be even hotter than yesterday. I'm back in the office today, but I'm not really a hot weather person, so thats ok.
Today I have/will
Made sandwiches to take to work
Showered using free toiletries obtained from hotels
Check online banking
Charge phones on train
Free papers on train
NSD
Hoover the car ready for it's MOT next week. Every year I have this stupid idea, that if it looks well maintained and cared for, they might not be so thorough at checking for every little fault. It's never seemed to have worked yet, but it may do one day. :rotfl:
Have a great day everyone

Hi All,
Sorry Ive been AWOL - been stupidly busy but have been lurking.
Having one of those days today so kept my head down in the hope of getting through the day.
Today I have/will:- Meals from stores (yay, first time this week)
- Used rail pass to get to work
- Loaded rail pass money onto AA prepaid card = points towards AA cover (we have AA cover because we cant afford anything major to go wrong on car and this way its covered)
- Sat at college looking on the net for a job (long story but didnt even get an interview for a role down the road and the only other call I had was about a role moving from Salisbury - Hometown but it could take a year for them to move and its an extra 10 miles each way 40 miles each way rather than current job which is 30 miles)
- Checked banking and moved pennies to AAT fund
- Walked to college feeling very negative but by the time I got to college felt a bit more positive....will bide my time at work as I am in no real rush to change jobs.......let them pay for college course and books (I will have to pay back a % of study)
- charged mobile at work
- Had an NSD (first one this week)
- Refilled bottle of water rather than buy a bottle
- Cut down on coffee (water instead)
Think that's it for today.....I'm off to learn about Sage Computerised Accounting package
Candy xxxDebts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,0000 -
Hi all
Karb - Thanks for starting
DNMS - Green with envy, have an amazing time in Thailan
Candy - I'm a Salisbury born girl too!!
Princess Pea - Congrats!
A bit late on today, manic at work as payroll cut off (thought we should make sure all the staff got paid!!)
Today I have:
* No spend day
* All meals from stores
* Asked the OH to ring me as he has free calls (going to start implementing this long time)
* Arranged for dinner with OH tomorrow and Mum on Fri so a few free meals hehe!
* Checked banks
* Made payment to CC (I can never commit to paying it on payday, save it in savings until the email for payment comes through - I might be a commitment-phobe!!)
* Washing done, on the line in the sunshine
Due to the health thing I've decided not to commit to my Masters degree for this academic year. Probably best (I hope) as will be going through treatment and being MSE means I can save up and pay it rather than chucking it on another 0% card. Going to talk to work next week when the boss will be calmer and see if they will fund a couple of day courses to keep my portfolio ticking.
Hope everyone's well and loving the sun
S xI have enough money for the rest of my life... as long as I never have to pay for anything again!
