Can anyone recommend a free video converter other than AVC (Any video converter).
I`ve tried Freemake but encountered problems with this one as well.

Without knowing what format you want to convert from and to - its a wildcard of software available.
A good site to try for video conversion would be

MarleyBoy "You are the Greatest"
Marleyboy You Are A Legend!
Marleyboy speaks sense
marleyboy (total legend)

SUPER from eRightSoft (it is free) is as good as you'll get. It is very powerful, although the interface is counterintuitive at times. If anything can convert your footage, SUPER can - sometimes it is even better than Sorenson Squeeze which is hundreds of pounds (but has other advantages)0

Thanks for all the replies.
I also came up with this one that seems to be very good and is in the link of Tanglefoot`s post.

Freemake is generally reliable and easy to use. What problems did you encounter with it? I only have problems with Freemake when trying to convert .ts files from my PVR - and pretty much every other converter fails with the same source files. You will also have difficulties if you try to encode DRM-protected source files.
You might find Gizmo's list of converters interesting here.0 -
I've started using Handbrake. It was very good at converting dvd format to mp4. A bit fiddly to get right, and sometimes reverts seettings to default... so worth making notes.
As with fenlander, it doesn't do .ts conversion (no audio).0 -

I use Super and Avidemux which are both free and can convert many different formats.

Note: if you have a Radeon HD 2000-series card or above you may also get favourable results from the AMD Video Converter.
Lightworks might be worth a look too.0
