Hi
I hope someone can help on this one for a friend of mine who has been ill for some time who confided in me the other day about her huge gas and electric bill dual fuel with edf. She said she has been arguing for years that her bills have been too high she switched from scottish power around 2004 and her d/d were £35 month gas and £40 a month electric and were like that for years and she always stayed on top of things. But was offered cheaper to go dual fuel with edf so she switched to edf who put her d/d's at the same price per month as Scottish power. Then she gets a shock as time is going on she is getting into arrears because the d/d is not enough. They now state that she uses £35 Gas per week (not month) and £40 worth of electric (per week not month). She stopped paying her bills because she said it could not be right and she couldnt afford it. This was back in 2008 and she has not paid a penny since and her bill now stands at nearly £10,000. They have only just adressed the situation told her they got it wrong by about £400 and now she has to have a payment meter fitted an pay something off the arrears every week. she is dreading this because she is ill and doesnt want to be in a position where she has no heat and light because she has no money to put on the card. Also how does she know that the bill is right even now, because they are saying she is using all this gas and electric per month which would be around £140 Gas and 160.00 electric. I just thought can she use the back billing code to try and sort this out and get this huge weight lifted off her shoulders. I really felt bad because i didnt know what to say to her on this one. any help would be really appreciated thank you

I'm afraid there are so many anomolies in your post that I suspect that like the game of Chinese Whispers, the details have changed with each telling.
Your best bet is to ask your friend to make a request to EDF for a copy of every bill they have issued since taking over the account, and then take the bills to the local Citizens Advice Bureau so they can examine them and give advice0
