Need to put ceramic tiles on all four walls

Has anybody managed to get a straight, level line around a room without buying/hiring a rotating laser level?

My bathroom is 3m x 3m and will have ceramic tiles all around. I used a 'hang it off a nail' laser level, marked both extremes, matched the mark, rehung and marked on the next wall, and again, and again. To go all around the room, the first and last marks were about 6mm out. Is there a better way?

Russ has pointed you at one option. But you are making it too complicated. Its not the laser thats running out on you its the way you are using it. 6mm is a lot. Just because its a laser based device is lulling you into a false sense of security. The MkI eyeball coupled with a nice long professional spirit level are much more efficacious. I've been getting nice level lines all round the room for years with this method.

    Cheers

I'm trying to avoid the accumulative error effect. 1st mark you're out by 0.5mm, 2nd mark by 1mm, etc. etc.

just put up aqua paneling, then you don't have to worry about grout discolouring :)

Start tiling at the door and work round back to the door, then if you are a few mil out you will only have a couple of tiles to shave, or the full height of the door to adjust the gap between the tiles to make it look right.

Of course it helps if you can draw an accurate level line around the room in the first place, although if your ceilings are not level there is still the risk that it won't look perfect at the top anyway.

Why bother with all that stuff? A piece of transparent hose, some water, literally a drop of washing up liquid and a bit of food colouring you have the best level on the planet. It can travel for miles and still be spot on...

Sorry didn't spot the toolstation ref DOH!
