Feeling so low and stressed...

I really don't know what to do. I was doing so well with repaying my debts and now I seem to have gone completely off track!

I have my tax due in June, my MOT in July and I know I need two new tyres and my insurance renewal in July as well. On top of that I go on holiday at the end of July which I still need spends for I really don't know where I am getting all of the above money from and it's getting me so down

Sorry to have a winge

Can you make the tyres last by using public transport more often?
Don't get your tyres to premium brands, see what budget tyres you can get hold of from a local garage. Could you put the necessary spend on a 0% card and work it in to your future budget? Car Insurance will be cheaper as a lump sum if you can find a way to pay this. The exchange rate for Euros is good at the minute. Why not set yourself a really strict budget when you go away and don't take any cards to go beyond it.

Winge away, the debt free route is a roller coaster and these things are sent to remind us.
I don't how your budget is at the mo, - got bit of May left, June and part of July, if you break that down to weeks - may sound hlep, but it work out.

-The Car - don't go for premium tyres, I personally use a local garage and know that i'm only getting sold what I actually need. Try a local garage.

Tax - got for 6 months.

    Extra funds-
Have you got anything to ebay, next idea car boot, - I don't know what area your from, but locally to use the schools tend to have a good reputation, - ask around, not sounding horrible, one persons posion is another persons perfume (or what ever the saying is)

I gutted the kitchen, and stuff that I would have chucked away sold, - and I was ah..... but before the money saving days I would have given the items to charity or chucked out.

Car ins - even if it is this yr, maybe see if you can do a monthyl policy or 10 months, - they have different options,
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Also remember that these things (besides holiday) are normal things you need to pay so don't feel too hard on yourself. Just make sure you make extra special effort to limit spending. I don't know what kind of holiday you are going for but if it's a chilling out one then enjoy the pool and sun and relax. Buy bottled water from a shop and avoid spending extra on additional activities you didn;t plan for by only taking so much cash.

    Hi DebtClearer & mum2one,

unfortunately where i live i can't get public transport to work :( my partner is currently doing the driving to and from work (luckily we work at the same place) so that should save my tyres until i get new ones. the tyres i have had i have had on since i bought the car so like 2 years, i only had to replace one recently due to a puncture but that one needs replacing again. the new one i bought was a budget one and its only lasted me 2 months which has completely put me off budget tyres.

I dont think i would be accepted for any credit at the minute because ive maxed out my credit recently when getting a 5000.00 loan out for my partner to buy his car. really need to clear my debt but this doesnt look like it's going to be happening anytime soon with all that needs paying out.

Im off to Dubai so need approx 500-700 spends for all the activities. im really going to have to scrimp and save to get that together. i know you're all probably thinking the holiday is a silly idea however at the time it felt like we could afford it and i know i will enjoy the holiday lots as I have been before.

i should have really budgeted for all these costs throughout the year silly silly me! im paying for it now. everytime i think about it i just want to cry. i have tuck a step in the right direction though and stopped getting my nails done which was costing me 17.00 - 22.00 every 3 weeks. every little helps i suppose

    thanks for your help guys

How many miles has the budget tyre done?
If its only been on 2 months what about it needs replacing? is it that the tread is too low and has worn away equally? Or has it worn away unevenly / have some other issue.
Assuming its not done a ridiculous amount of miles in 2 months then I would go back to the garage/tyre fitters you got it from and make a complaint.
See what they say, personally I'd think it was faulty and they should look at replacing - or at least try to get a decent discount off a replacement tyre from them.

(Obviously that wouldn't apply if you've scuffed the outside on a kerb or something which is why it won't pass the MOT)

    Hi Tixy

i think it has a slow puncture & when it went in for its service they said the tread is low on it. i wouldnt have thought i had done that many miles - a couple of thousand max. i got it from a garage that i dont usually go to as a case of urgency. ive been qouted 92.00 per tyre for the good ones continental which seem to last me a good few years which seems fair to me as ive usually paid more so i think im going to scrape the money together to get decent ones so that hopefully i wont be replacing them until atleast 2014... :)

its just all a bit of a nightmare because its all due at once. im dreading my insurance renewal because i know i cant afford to pay it off in full like i have done the past few years :( so that makes me worry as it will be another payment coming out of my account each month. i really dont know how im going to make my money stretch!

Hi you say you and your partner work at the same place and you took a loan out for him to buy his car. Do you need a 2nd car? can you sell yours and get added to your partner's insurance?

My partner and I met 3.5 years ago at work (we'd been working otgether for 6 months and never noticed each other ha ha) and within 6 months he was practically living at my flat. We were both driving round in expensive to tax 1.6 cars, insuring and paying maintenance costs when we were travelling around in only 1 car to and from work.

We sold his car for £1800 and have only had 1 car since. We miss a 2nd car occasionally but most of the time we don't notice and have made do sharing 1.

Is this a possibility for you? Then you could sell your car and use some of the money towards your holiday and maybe have a bit spare?

    hi anrutpea,

it is something we have considered however we dont live together and we are not always on the same shift. he has only recently got his own car (feb this year) because it was hard only having the one car. we try to use one where we can to save on petrol etc. but unfortunately its not always convenient, its more time not convenient than not :(

Have you posted a SOA before? Would it help to get everyone to go through it and look for savings? There's a link somewhere.

Think you need to see this as another LBM and go on from here. Stop all the treats, cancel everything you can, then that might help you save up some holiday money. And like someone else suggested, sell everything you can!!
