Handbrake light staying on

Well this morning I looked at the brake fluid again, I wasn't relishing the idea of taking up the carpet and removing the handbrake itself! Even though it was still touching maximum I topped it up just a little more = brake light now works properly! Ford Ka's must be very temperamental with their fluid levels, the power steering light came on once as the fluid barely dropped from max.

Anyhoo, all seems to be sorted now so thank you all for your help and ideas!

As said, 9/10 times this is caused by low brake fluid level.

If you did only put a "splash" of fluid in, it may be the float in the cap is sticky, it shouldn't come on though as soon as the fluid drops slightly off the maximum.

These cars also use the brake fluid for the clutch system too, it's not uncommon for the clutch slave cylinders to leak, so keep an eye on the level.

    Regards,
    Andy
