Have a winxp sp2 computer and I am using a very old monitor packard bell with inbuild speakers.

I've tried changfing settings nut cant gewt any sound. I can see it going up and down on winamp but nothing is coming out. If I take out the wires or put them in it gives a crackle but thats it. I swapped settings to speakers inbuilt with monitor but its still nit happening
Thanx

It might sound sily but are you sure you are plugging the speakers into the right socket - my inlaws did just this and had it plugged into the mic socket.

Check the volume / sound properties (from the control pannel) and make sure that it has not been muted by mistake.

go to control panel, system, hardware ,and device manager, to check that the sound drivers work ok.
