Cheap LED MR16s and GU10s

I'm sure had the offices been in Mayfair you'd still have found something to criticise for no good reason.

Look, i've worked with in the LED lighting industry for over a decade and i'm just trying to help and offer some advice based on my experience...
Look perhaps if you'd worked in customer service your attitude might be less sarky & prickly. In theory I am the customer - you've not taken on board any of my concerns or annoyances except for the address of the premises.
As I said at the start I was looking for some energy-saving replacement GU10s leds for the kitchen. I searched the web including ebay and Amazon and it was very difficult to differentiate between leds based on quality, except for perhaps very high-end but maybe not, it was difficult to be sure.
So whilst if I had come across your site whilst searching I might have thought about the warranty offered there was nothing on your site to differentiate you from many other 'fly-by-nights' putting up a pretty website.
In the end I looked at previous customer comments from an ebay seller and for less than one of your led products I have four non-plastic gu10 leds. It might have been a gamble but I still think it was less of a gamble than forking out nearly £40 on the products on your website.
BTW the Chinese gu10 led lamps are still going strong, okay it's only been 4 months but it was only £8.59 and already they've lasted longer than the bulbs the spotlight came with.

Ok, well we'll have to agree to disagree with regards to my customer service. Especially when things are being criticised for no good reason. Where should an LED company be based in order to be trustworthy in your eyes?
1)What are your concerns and annoyances?
2) 3+5 year guarantees, 30 day free trial period - where you can send any product bought within 30 days back for a full refund for any reason, 100% customer reviews about products on the site, free delivery, phone number / company address / name of managing director / twitter / facebook
Do you not think these 'differentiate us' from fly by nights in anyway?
3) I completely disagree. The £36 LED Spotlight is the finest LED Spot in the world. It is made from the best raw materials possible, the design is cutting edge, thorough and patented, its won multiple international design and technology awards, it produces a quality of light better than anything i have ever seen and will absolutely last the stated 40,000 hours.
All of these things make it a product that Cartier, Ralph Lauren, The Four Seasons Hotel Group and many private individuals have thought it worthy to invest in. The product will save them a lot of money. So, i believe buying this product, in terms of money saving ability and performance is absolutely no gamble what so ever. I would consider the product you bought to be a huge gamble. But thats just my professional opinion.
What matters is that you like the product your bought and are using. So thats great.0 -

Good luck with it then. :money:Perhaps I think of lightbulbs as 'low-end' products and wouldn't want to pay £36 for one.0 -

Most people do think of light bulbs as low end products and really don't want to want to have to think about them at all. However i believe if consumers were to take a medium to long term approach to their lighting and put as much thought into buying lighting as you would a home appliance, then you will spend less time thinking or worrying about light bulbs and save more money and CO2.
The £36 spotlight will last just over 18 years with average usage and save around 90% off lighting bills each year. When you do the maths, even with the initial cost of the product, with regards to energy and time saving over that period of time, then they make complete sense and are an incredible investment.
But admittedly it's a lot of money up front on a product consumers are used to spending relatively nothing on.0 -
I received my bulbs from elstimpo's company very quickly as promised, so here's my feedback.
Firstly, he's excellent to deal with and gives great advice, which is invaluable IMO. The website's also good, and it's a well organised company.
I was replacing 2x50W halogen bulbs, and have had trouble finding LED bulbs that will actually replace 50W halogens. Plenty on eBay etc SAY they will of course...
Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the colour of these lights, I was expecting bluer/whiter from them, but they're a very similar colour to the halogens, I didn't know that LEDs could be so yellow! I also got lucky that they don't flicker with the transformers I have. My house is 3 years old so I don't know if my nice new transformers are better at these lower wattages than older transformers would be.
I have found them to not be as bright as the halogens though. Of course, the Lumens number is nowhere near the same as halogens, but humans don't perceive that light the way it's tested. They're certainly bright enough for most applications (and certainly more bright than 35W halogens), and in a different room, with different requirements (and more lights) it wouldn't be a problem, but I'm working in a small room here (ensuite) with a mirror where shadows can be a problem, so I wanted brightness levels to go up, and shadowing to go down, with a more even spread of light.
Overall, highly recommended, but not for this specific use for a fusspot like me.0 -
