Can someone please advise me if this collections agency can do anything due to the fact that I live in Spain.
To be honest I think I may of exaggerated my income when I applied to Mbna as I am in fact and was at the time on Dla, IB, Ctc and CB. They obviously never checked this out when I applied to Mbna else if they had I would never have passed the required qualifications. I applied to Mbna at a time when they were granting applications to all and sundry.
Anyway any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you

So basically you lied to them (which I may be wrong, but it sounds like fraud to me...), and are criticising them for not finding out that you lied? A bit unfair don't you think?
Can't help with the other question though. I assume they can take you to court in Spain over it but I doubt they'd bother for £2k and as I said, I don't really know much about this process.0 -
So in short you know nothing about what she is asking about but thought you post your 2 cents worth anyway ! ( what a nerd )
Which is exactly what you have done, yes?
OP, no need to pay anything, after all honesty does not seem to be a strong point of yours. Then when you come back to the UK (which you inevitably will do) they'll be able to chase you for the amount you owe plus lots and lots of interest and charges. Karma!

Thank you jizzler and yes I agree with you. This other poster does not know my circumstances. And "he who lives in glass houses". Hopefully someone will come along who is not so nasty0 -

I'm not coming back to the UK I have been here for 10 years and have 2 children that are settled in school. And yes, the benefit people do know I am living here!0 -
And show me someone that has NEVER told a lie in their life and I'll show you a flying pink pig.....,0

Please, any "sensible" answers would be much appreciated. I have posted and been bullied on her for telling a "white lie", and like I said who hasn't plus I did not have to post these details on my original post, guess that was MY MISTAKE but thought I would receive some advice rather than some person, and I use that word lightly, giving me grief and trying to make me feel worse, WHICH BY THE WAY IT DIDN'T0

Spain does not pursue an English debt so very funny but get your facts right. Anyway I've heard they serve excellent porridge in Spanish prisons0

Can they chase you for a UK debt if you live in Spain? Yes, but probably won't send bailiffs or enforce judgements for £2k.
Can you get the debt written off because they didn't find out that you lied on the application? Very unlikely.
Can they prosecute for lying on the application? Maybe but very unlikely for £2k.
So you have probably got away with it.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
