disabling add-ons box and live messenger box

I keep getting a white oblong box with a yellow header which says speed up browsing by disabling add-ons, choose add-ons, or ask me later. How can i permanently stop that from popping up.
Also how do i permanently stop the windows live messenger box popping up. I'm still tidying up/repairing Grandmas pc and don't want these on there. TIA.

Windows Live Messenger - Tools > Options > Sign In > Remove ticks top box (start Messenger......)

Thnx. Got rid of messenger - any idea how to get rid of that white and yellow box asking about add ons. TIA.

Go here, and follow the instructions in Method 1, or scroll to the bottom and download the registry script to do the job for you.
