Divorce Cost

Hello
I am in the process of a divorce and have no idea what the cost will be.
Everything is very ammicable, she assigned a solicitor who sent me a letter, all signed and sent back, I had another letter saying everything has been applied for and a clean break order put in place.
There is no financial claim again her or her against me. No children. No financial adjustment etc.
Any ideas?

have you engaged a solicitor? if not then it won't cost you anything....The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

What MGDavid said!

If it's all amicable just DIY. Go to the local Court and ask the reception for all the divorce forms, fill them in and present them back to court. There is a small admin fee involved (in total under £100, if I remember rightly). It's not complicated.
There were children involved in my divorce, which meant another couple of forms, but it really was cheap as chips.
On the other hand, If your spouse has already engaged a solicitor and is instigating procedures, you could just sit back and wait. She will be paying stoopid money for her solicitor to fill in EXACTLY the same forms you can get from the court yourself and post them on to you.
You sign them (after reading CAREFULLY - never trust a solicitor no matter how much you trust your soon to be ex) and send them back, not paying ANYTHING.
This website explains it all very well:

Hello
She has engaged a solicitor but i have not. I have a solicitor friend who read the letters her solicitor sent and everything is in order so I signed and returned.
I thought i would be paying 50% of the costs you see0 -
I would expect the agreement or solicitor's letter to include a statement about costs - my son's did.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

thanks mgdavid, I'll have a read through again as it was a few months ago.
I dont mind going 50/50 anyway just wondered how much that would equate too.
Cheers0 -
Unless she asks for you to pay half the costs you won't have to. If it's all amicable, you're both consenting to the divorce and there's no joint property to be sold etc then she's wasting money paying a solicitor because the forms are really easy to fill in and file yourself.
The actual court fees at the moment are £340 for the initial application for a decree nisi then an additional £45 to get the nisi made absolute.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
