hi all
i'm scratching my head on this one. the towel rail in question is very old. i have included 3 pics to show it in place and with the rail removed but the brackets still on the wall. i know it looks like you just unscrew the screw showing but it is half behind the round chrome backplate and you cannot get a screw driver to it. the round chrome plate does not appear to turn either way and i do not want to damage the tiles getting this off. has anyone come across something like this before.
its in a spanish bathroom and i am going there next week, but i am stumped with this???
many thanks

thanks for reply
no grub screw. the only grub screw was the one holding the 'shell' to the centre of the chrome piece.
real conundrum this!!!!0 -
Prize off the chrome disk and unscrew the fitting, you can see the pozidrive head in your last picture. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

the chromed cover plate will either prise off as Penryhn suggests or it may unscrew.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Maybe the chrome will turn if you try tapping it round with a chisel to cut a groove in it. It may be just 'stuck' together with age.0

It may be easier to try a bit of brute force and risk busting a tile - in which case put a 'feature' tile in its place.
You look 'brutish' enough in the reflection.0 -
I'm prepared to bet they are either screw on or clip on too.
Cheers
PS You need a shave.:D:cool:

The options are screw on, twist on or press on. I would go with screw on. I would try the chrome covers with stillsons. Failing that, I would take an angle grinder to the cover to give access to the screw head and forget about taking the chrome covers off. If you use and angle grinder, put sheets down to catch the sparks, else they will melt their way into whatever they land on.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
