Has anyone on this board managed to give up their day job and make a decent living from trading shares?
How much capital did you start with?
What methods did you use?
Straight dealing, day tarding, spread betting?
Cheers

Have you any experience of the financial markets?
If not it's going to take you quite a while to get your knowledge up to the standard to make a living from it.
If you would like some advice on books to read or websites to look at to get started let me know.
try matched betting for some easy money to start with - see forum on here
for financial markets try some paper trading or https://www.bullbearings.co.uk to get a feel for how it works.
Hope this helps:beer:0 -
I am fairly familiar with the market and how it wrks, I have varios investments in peps and isas and have dabbled with practice spread betting accounts.
Any advice is welcome so please send me links to sites that can help.
Back to my question tho', do you make your living fro share trading?0 -
MSE is the wrong place for this question. You'd be better off asking at the Motley Fool.0

Okay, I will head over to the Motley - thanks for your replies0

Sorry, my previous reply looks rather brusque, doesn't it? I didn't mean to chase you! It's just that there really aren't many active investors on MSE, whereas TMF is full of them. PaulyPilot's Pub is a great board to start your search.
HTH and good luck
