Hi all,
I know I haven't actually got a problem yet but I do smell a rat...
I have listed some festival tickets on ebay (all legit, I checked everything out before listing).
They have sold for a decent amount but the winner is someone with zero feedback.
I have sent the email out asking them to pay by paypal asap.
I guess I am just worried what could go wrong if it is somebody dodgy?
Just seems odd that someone new to ebay would spend a lot of money on their first purchase. Or am I being paranoid?
Thanks

Seconded. I would make sure you record/insure them. You don't want an INR claim.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -
When they pay, check you're covered in paypal, then send by Special Delivery to the paypal-registered address.
Even better, if you can, get them to pay by bank transfer. Great for you, but no protection for them.Exclamation and question marks - ONE exclamation mark or question mark is sufficient to exclaim or ask about something. More than one just makes you look/sound like a prat.
Should OF, would OF. Dear oh dear. You really should have, or should've listened at school when that nice English teacher was explaining how words get abbreviated.0 -
Thanks, I usually have no problem selling to people with zero feedback. I think when it is such an expensive thing to buy though I would expect people to have made smaller purchases first to 'test' that they trust ebay?
They haven't paid yet or responded to my email. I am usually lucky with my auctions that people tend to pay pretty much straight away.
Starting to worry....0 -
Well I was right
Had an email from the winner saying their car had been written off last night and the insurance wasn't going to pay out and so they couldn't afford the tickets.
I have done a second chance offer to the next bidder, waiting to see if they reply.
Can I leave negative feedback for the original winner? or would that not be a good idea?0 -
Sellers cant leave negative feedback!
Also if the next bidder takes it you will have to pay 2 x fees unless you do a mutual cancellation or unpaid item case.Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0 -
Oh flippin eck!
I knew something like this would happen!
Is there anything I can do to alert people that he is a naughty boy? He has been a member since 2010 but has no feedback whatsoever0 -
You can do the unpaid item thing but you can only open it on day 4 after the sale and then you cant close it till exactly 4 days since you opened it (so 8 days since auction finished). Once that's done he gets a strike and most people have their seller preferences set so that if you have 2 strikes you cant buy from them. Technically you cant sell to anyone else until the unpaid item case is closed though in case he decides to pay after all.
You can do the mutual cancellation but if he declines it you wont get your fees back. He also wouldn't get the strike on his account.Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0
