Anibase or Petlog database?

I brought my 2 dogs to the UK fairly recently - they were microchipped in Greece where they had lived all their lives.
I realise that I must register their microchip details here in the UK with my current address & contact info.
From what I've found so far, there seem to be 2 national databases - Anibase and Petlog.
Which one should I register with - any recommendations? Anibase says it costs 6.50 to register each. Petlog says it is 7.50 to upgrade to Premium (online only) during June but I don't know if there's an initial charge as well.
Any advice please? Is one database better than the other?

The ASSISI Animal Sanctuary where I volunteer use Petlog,as do the vets.0

My experience is that they're as good as each other. My own pets are with petlog but the ones I used to chip at work were registered with anibase. Both have been helpful when I've had inquiries and I've had no problems with either.0

Thanks for your replies. My vet gave me the contact info for Anibase, but when I started to look into it, it seems that Anibase is not in the UK whereas Petlog is.
Say if a stray animal is found wandering about - presumably a helpful person would contact a vet, who would then search all the various databases to find the owner? Apparently there are at least 4 databases - I presumed there was just one main database so I'm not sure how it all works really.0 -

Anibase is located in York, so it is in the UK. I undertand from my vet that they are all linked together so when a pet is found, it points them to the database based on the chip number and then a vet can find the details by logging into that companies specific database.0 -
I would go with PL. Larger, provide better OOH and I think in the current climate will be able to comply with governement requirements with lesser cost to clients.
I worked in then industry for a number of years.NOT a NEWBIE!

Thanks - I registered my dogs with Petlog last year - no problems at all - easy to update details online when we moved.0

There is no difference whether you register with Petlog or Anibase. as a vet I can look up a microchip on-line in a matter of moments whichever database.0

There are differences between the 2 which you wont know until there is an issue.
I also repeat that I dont think Anibase will continue with new government requirementsNOT a NEWBIE!

Petlog is who both of mine were registered with, Kia was a rescue and the rescue logged her and Logan came from breeders logged with them.0
