What that's done is increased your 'utilisation ratio', ie you're now using more of the credit available to you.

On your numbers quoted (limits and debt) it wouldn't make too much of a difference. Your biggest problem, in terms of credit scoring, is your low income...compared to available and used credit.

Looks like I'll just have to do a chunk of my total balance for now, and reassess in the future.

Barclaycard are generally pretty good with existing customer offers. Have you tried phoning them?

They may allow you to go onto a 0% deal. It probably wont be for as long as a 'new' customer but will be better than nothing.

If not, you could transfer as much as you can to the new card you were offered. You may than get an existing customer deal on the barclaycard to transfer this amount back to when you need it.


Edit: You should be able to see any existing customer offers on your online account with Barclaycard, assuming you have one. Just go onto the balance transfers section.
