Help wanted with contents for rented home please

Hi, I am moving out of my house and am worried about having money taken out of my deposit for any accidental damage whilst the move is happening. Can I get cover for the short period of time during the move period to avoid the risk of damaged floors, woodwork, whatever, coming out of my deposit? I don't really want contents insurance all year round.

I was thinking of doing it by using the 14 day cooling off period, taking out the policy as I move out and cancelling it if all is clear, any reason why this would be a problem?

The problem you would have is that the policy won't cover damage to the woodwork/floors etc (they aren't "contents")

Given the OP says it is a rented property then contents insurance would cover it as it will include liabiltiy for damages to Landlords property.

You do have a problem though, each "incident" would be a separate claim with its own excess etc. So if whilst carrying out the bed you bash the door frame to the bedroom and then the side wall in the hallway. This would be 2 claims, 2 excesses to be paid and if you get insurance in the future you would have a shocking claims history plus of cause if you claim on a policy you cannot cancel it.

Are you doing the removal yourself or using a removal company? If you're using a professional company then they will have their own insurance anyway
