I am on one with DMP and I changed my landline number. Also if anyone does call, just say you on DMP and quote your DMP ref no. You can also send a letter, I'm sutre there is a template on here or CCCS will provide one where you say they must contact you only by post. Once I'd returned papers, it was a huge relief and I slept properly for first time in months.
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time

I sent my papers back to CCCS a fortnight ago, first payment goes out 1st June and I sent letters to all my creditors a week ago. So far all I have had is a letter from one asking me to cut up my credit card and telling me they have removed my credit facility. i think I may have more calls in a week or two when the first payments are missed but I have a piece of paper by the phone with my reference number on and I shall just repeat that ad nauseum to whoever phones.

I was dreading this, still struggling to get cashflow to meet the first months payment but once that is done I know I shall sleep easier. Please try and relax, its not as bad as you imagine its going to be, and most importantly, you are back in control.
I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

  • I sent my papers back last week and Ive had 6 letters from MBNA asking for income and expenditure, 4 letters from MBNA telling me to cut up my cards and one letter for each Barclaycard saying I was in arrears. Ive spoken to them all on the phone, and all were fine when I explained I was in contact with CCCS. Barclaycard said they would freeze interest for 30 days while I sorted things out.

Im still waiting for a bad call, but fingers crossed....

    Hi ya

I contacted CCCS about 3 weeks ago and only sent off the papers at the beginning of the week. It is scary but you will get plenty of support on these boards. I wish you all the best in your journey.
  • Dont worry about calls from you creditors - I was in serious financial difficulties, but with the help of the CCCS i became debt free last year. When i started with the CCCS i did receive a few calls from creditors, but they soon stopped - as soon as you mention the CCCS ,the creditors seem to melt away...... if you're contacted by your creditors just say "I'm sorry, all my financial matters are being dealt with by the CCCS. Please discuss it with them" ...... trust me, the calls will soon stop.

    good luck!

I started a DMP with CCCS last year and was worried about the calls too, but really they didn't happen as I thought they would. As badgerdogg says just quote CCCS to them. Once you take the major step of starting a DMP with a recognised organisation such as CCCS or payplan there isn't much your creditors can do as long as you stick to the regular payments.
