We are having a DJ, its a friend of a friend and he is great - doesnt do much talking (which I hate anyway) and he has said I can give him a play list if I want.

Must admit I havent been to a wedding where the dance floor was empty and all my friends love a good dance especially to cheesy music.

I personally feel its down to individuals which way they go whether a band or DJ although I find its the people at the wedding that can make or break the dance floor :j

We're having a swing band and possibly a DJ afterwards (but not your typical wedding DJ, he plays fab music). I'm sooo excited about the band!!!

I personally prefer bands, I have been to so many receptions with bad DJs and no one dances, bands are much more reactive and can take their direction from the crowd better than DJs. The wedding I went to on Saturday had a great band and the dance floor was rammed!

That said, I think it depends on the type of guest you have too, we aren't having an evening 'do' because OH has been to too many receptions where everyone sits in their little groups and no one gets up and has fun, people are too self concious!

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

We will be having a DJ - there wasn't really much decision over it, more that all the weddings we go to seem to have discos and the friends and family we will be inviting love a good disco!

I'm finding this a really hard thing to choose though, as it's not like you can see work they've done before! We did like the DJ that did the disco at a wedding we went to recently, and now the couple are back from their honeymoon we will be asking them for the details.

I used https://www.needadisco.com. Put in my venue and date and had about 15 responses from local DJs within a couple of days. Prices ranged from about £150 to over £500 for the evening do and before deciding which one to book we had meetings with 3 of them.

Eventually booked a slightly dearer guy than planned because he had lots of genuinely good feedback and threw in a few extras. It's a great way of working out who are idiots and who are really passionate about working with you, especially if you have strange musical tastes like me and the mrs

They were really good for our wedding reception. Met with us beforehand to discuss the day and our music choices, assured us of the excellent service they provide and they also had loads of good feedback from past customers. They were even cheaper than the venue's own recommended DJ too which really impressed me as I'm always on the lookout for a bargain. £220 for 7:00pm to 12:30.
