Hi, in the bad winds my tv ariel fell of the roof leaving us without a picture, Problem being i cant really afford the cost of replacing it so i was wondering if there is any way or using the sky dish that is on the side of the house. We have never had sky since we moved in and though it may be a cheaper solution. It seams to have a point at the back of the tv next to the analogue point. Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Brett Cooper

You would need to get hold of a second hand sky digibox (perhaps from ebay). Not sure if that'd be any cheaper than replacing your TV aerial0

You wouldn't have to worry about the switch over from analogue to digital though, you'd already be there ! and HD will be available much more widely from sat than from terrestrial - if at all.
Generally satellite tends to be more reliable than terrestrial TV as well, and of course there are also lots of radio channels as well.0 -
Thanks for the replies. As i am not very technical minded would you mind telling me in a bit more detail what i will need to get it working.

Providing your dish is ok and still aligned correctly, you would plug the cable from the dish into the digibox and use a scart cable to connect the digibox to your tv. Most of the free channels work without a sky card, but I think you need a card for C4 and C5. Cards cost about £20 from sky I think0
