How scary is it that after all that QE and interest rates at an all time 300 year low inflation is only 3%?"When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson0 -

I expect so too. That's what I was saying given the billions printed and the extremely low interest rates (therefore supposedly greater disposable income) the fact that inflation is only (note italics) 3% just shows how deep the black hole is.The J is a Financial Advisor-This site doesn't check anyone's status and as such any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice. I love the comment from the TUC Gen Sec who pointed out that with real wage growth of only 0.6% this is still a substantial pay cut....only thing is 0.6% is the change including 'fat cat' bonuses, excluding bonuses it is more healthy (1.6% from memory?). Anyone care to suggest whether he would have used the including or excluding bonuses figures if the including figure had been the higher!?I think....0

And/or that the money isn't getting into circulation.
Perhaps it is just going into building bank balance sheets, to make up for the losses generated on bad loans, that effectively went east in consumption?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

It's not a question, it most definitely hasn't gone into circulation. It's just providing liquidity to 'insolvent', badly run, fractional reserve banks. The J is a Financial Advisor-This site doesn't check anyone's status and as such any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice. Hasn't that been the case for like, ever?
Yes but there used to be wage increases that usually kept up with inflation.
Now the gap between income and expenditure is getting ever narrower for many. Therefore the squeeze continues.0 -
Just heard some daft bint on the radio saying, "inflation is down, so it's nice to know things are getting a little cheaper".0

Apparently one of the biggest reasons for the decrease is that the cost of flying was up 27% this time last year, whereas this year, it't "only" up 7%.
So that's ok!
Still, wonder if that bloke from the BOE is getting twitchy about his promise to us?!0 -
