    Good news.

I'm worried if some posters are ok or have gone missing in action. When this figure has not been 'high' they have been very, very quick to start a thread.

Hope they are ok and maybe they just missed this piece of news, or maybe not...

CPI is down to 3.0% so Mervyn will be excused letter-writing duties. RPI is down to 3.5%.

It looks to me like price increases in food, clothing and transport have moderated sharply. That's the price of real core stuff too. Utility bills are up 6% but even that's a lot better than the annual rises of 8-9% seen at the turn of the year.

    A very positive result.

Can the moderators delete this thread so that Graham Devon can post a new one with a negative spin on it?

    Thank you.

How scary is it that after all that QE and interest rates at an all time 300 year low inflation is only 3%?

    just to get it right

inflation (i.e. prices) increased again this month by both measures

the annual (12 month) change in inflation (increase) is a little less this month than last month

the cost of living goes relentlessly upwards

As a commentator said on the radio, VAT increase is now out of the equation. It might be out of the quoted figure but it is still in the cost of everything it has been applied to.

In the same way that food and fuel increases are locked in for ever more. Wth most average incomes being flat then the problems have not gone way for the majority.

Indeed so, but that doesn't justify the spin on the reporting.

we need headliines that say ' Prices Up again' and not headlinines that say 'inflation falls' to remind ourselves of the reality that savers are losing money and debtors are gaining at their expense.
