    Surely you don't expect the economic secretary to the Treasury to understand that this means that prices are continuing to rise, whilst household income for many famlies remains, at best, stagnant.

    Next you'll be expecting the Chancellor of the Exchequer to understand macro-economic theory. Ridiculous!

    Is anybody controlling inflation?

    Is anybody even claiming that they can control inflation?

    I wish Mervyn King would just write a letter saying
    Economists are a waste of money,
    and that setting BOE interest rate is like picking a lock with a squid tentacle.

    I wish I bought more index linked savings bonds.

    You can still put up to £2million into Santander Inflation linked Bond Issue 10. But be careful of, amongst other things, access restrictions and tax treatment.
