Builders working til 2am!!!! NIGHTMARE!

Hiya,
can anyone tell me if there is a cut off time that builders are allowed to work til? I am having to listen to them til 2am converting a shop next door to me with electric saws,hammering etc.Unfortunately they are not approachable and are quite intimadating but i cant cope anymore on little sleep!

    Complain to the council. By the time any action is taken though the work will probably be finished but it's worth a try. Keep a diary of all noise issues for evidence. There is no limit on time even during the middle of the day the noise can still be a statutory nuisance but most people don't mind.

    Night time noise. http://www.environmental-protection.org.uk/noise/environmental-noise/noise-pollution/#wa473 - between 11.00 pm and 7.00 am they should be quiet.

    Also remember that some councils have round the clock enforcement officers but others devolve their noise enforcement to the police after a certain time, so it is often better to call them if it is very late.

    A quick call to your environmental health should confirm just what operates in your area.

    Also, keep a diary of all noise/disturbance - dates, times etc. This is evidential and very useful to them. :)
