Intelligent Finance....

hi - only my second post so bear with me!

admit that over the past couple of years sorting out my finances has not been my top priority because i was looking after my terminally ill dad..

have just started reading through posts on here and trying to sort out moving money that is sitting in accounts earning pitiful amounts of interest and decided to transfer my cash isa from intelligent finance to santander.

had various letters confirming IF had actioned the transfer to santander then on friday i received a letter from santander with the RETURNED cheque from intelligent finance!! it was marked "not signed in accordance with mandate"

i am absolutely horrified that a "bank" can make such a basic error. contacted IF and the customer service person promised to get it sorted that day - telephoned yesterday to check this had been done - NO they are waiting for the "stop cheque" instruction to activate. i was not a happy bunny and insisted that they acted immediately as it was their fault that the cheque was returned.

is this something that happens often? and what should i do next / expect in the way of lost interest / compensation?

am now feeling a little nervous about trying to sort out / move other bits of money to better accounts!

Other money should be okay since it's all electronic. I've only heard of cheques being used for ISAs.
