Blue NatWest cards are full auth and don't work on trains, petrol stations pay at pump, planes etc where as the purple ones are offline and do.0

...........I am looking for protection as I have lots of household bills going out I simply can't afford the charges applied if a payment coming out catches me off guard. ...........
hmmm I have to say I don't think you've learned from your previous financial misdemeanors and difficulties.
YOU need urgently to learn to budget and organise your finances; there should never be a case of a payment catching you off guard. The mindset you need is that you run the finances and bills, not the other way around. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
Merely an overdraft, which is cheaper than credit cards, I am looking for protection as I have lots of household bills going out I simply can't afford the charges applied if a payment coming out catches me off guard.
It's not something I am desperate for, I'm getting on grand as I am, I am just curious as to why I can get a grand on a credit card and zilcho from my own bank!
Because it is cheaper it is harder to get, there is less profit margin and so less margin to cover bad debt provision.
Your own bank will know you better than a credit card company - this is a double edged sword as if you have poor credit history but run your account brilliantly for the last 2 years with them etc then they may give you the benefit of the doubt where as if you had an ok-ish credit history but a poor history with them then they'll decline where as another organisation that only sees your credit history may accept0 -
I am surprised you have managed to get access to so much credit after so many defaults, I can't get anything and have never missed a payment in my life!0
