What would you do with £500?

We already have ISA's and I think we max them out each year. A few months ago we bought some gold and platinum. We have no debt except for our mortgage. We don't have much extra money but I've started a small business and am not sure what to do with my small amount of money I'm earning, after putting some back into my business, so I though, invest! So, I will soon have £500, what should I do with it? I don't mind high risk or letting it sit a long time, like 10 or 15 years. I'd like to be daring and try and get a high return.

Is that £500 once? Or a month, a week, a year? Can you pay back your mortgage faster with the £500? You "think" you maxed out your ISAs - - each person has £5,640 allowance in 2012-2013 - - so have you, or have you not, maxed it?

    Buy premium bonds.

A positive mind will see some small wins. Better than bank interest anyway. In the last 15 months on £1500 worth I've had £100 worth of wins.

And you've always the chance of the big one.

I put £500 into Lloyds shares in January as a long term hold. They've been up as much as 35% and down as much as 8%, so they've definitely provided entertainment value. Er...you do know that's a terrible reason to buy a share, don't you?
