Some great books and internet sources have been recommended by the previous posters, one more here that might be of interest to you -

The Intelligent Investor (by Benjamin Graham)

    (TheBookDepository.co.uk - Good prices + Free delivery)

Don't rush into things. Read up and learn as much as you can before you part with any money.

When you think you are ready to have a go at trading you can try out your strategy by having a practice first without committing real money, try it for a while and see if its something that you think you could be good at.

Here is the link for the Share Centre*: Practice trading shares with FREE practice account, you will have to register but its free.
Once you have registered you will have access to advice to help you get started and research tools so you can learn more about the market.
Bear in mind that a practice account does just that, it gives you an idea how things operate, but its very different in reality when you're staking real money, emotions etc.

Always do your own homework/research. Only invest money that you can afford to lose, should the worse happen.

Share Dealing sites I use are: http://www.x-o.co.uk/ (£5.95 a trade)
    and also: https://www.share.com/a/index.html

The Motley Fool site is a good place for information regarding shares: http://www.fool.co.uk/

    Good luck.

*I'm sure there are other companies that offer practice accounts too.

I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

We have a climate emergency and need to re-think investing strategies to avoid sectors that are part of the problem such as oil & gas and embrace climate-friendly options such as renewable energy.

The "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series by Robert Kiyosaki make for a good read, but they haven't made me rich yet.....

I haven't read that one, but I have just started "The long and the short of it."

Downloaded 'Slow & Steady Steps' in March and found it very useful, especially the last chapter on high yield shares and Investment Trusts. A bit short but good value at £1.95 imo.

Haven't yet read 'the long and the short' - let us know what you think.
