I would probably get married in a venue which had lovely gardens and settings, (although I still wouldnt want the traditional wedding breakfast etc), I would have the cool pink and white convertible wedding car I love, and I would pay for ohs brother to fly home and not be out of pocket for coming to the wedding- oh actually to make things easier if I had the money I would just pay for the band hes in to fly back and play at the wedding! :D

I would have paid for all the family guests to stay in the hotel together, invited more guests (as we wouldn't have been on a package!), hired the original band we wanted, and gone on honeymoon straight away instead of 12 months later.

But even £50k would not have made it possible for my mum & dad to have been there :(

p.s. And maybe we'd have had Robert Plant to sing our first dance song, with his mate Jimmy on guitar ;)

There's lots of extra things I'd like for our wedding like a videographer and a pair of Jimmy Choo's, and we did go for the cheaper option on venues, but I think I'd still have the reception where it is as it's where my parents had theirs, and we know the food is good as my dad has been a chef there for about 40 years!!(He obviously won't be doing the food on the day though!!)

Don't think £50,000 would cover it but if money were no object I'd get MUSE to play at our reception, as it was at one of their concerts where H2B and I got together.

  • I would go to Sassi Holford and get a couture dress made to measure, new venue, VW Camper Cars, get married outside in Scotland and hire the biggest cottage place I could find and put as many people up as possible for as long as I could until the money ran out. I'd keep £7k back for the honeymoon of a lifetime!

I'd have a live Band, string quartet for longer. I'd have a better photo and video package. Better favors etc etc...
 Learning to live with BPD & DDNOS
:j I no longer skinny dip, I chunky dunk :j
:p After my op I'll be skinny dipping! :p

If £50k dropped out of the sky purely for the wedding, I think the only thing I'd keep the same would be the groom!

OK, so extra money purely for the wedding...

I'd have a make-up artist to do me, mum & sisters

I'd keep the number of guests for the ceremony & meal at 14, but I'd move the ceremony to the wedding breakfast venue rather than the registry office & have a string quartet to provide the music

More cars - we've just got one car which will take me & my dad to the ceremony and then me & OH for the rest of the day but with extra money I'd add in cars/transport for all the ceremony guests.

I would move the reception to a venue with "grounds"

More than one arrival drink for the afternoon guests

More food choice (we're having a simple pie & pea supper)

I'd spend a bit more on venue decorations (some nice vintagey accessories or similar)

I'd have an Our Cow Molly ice cream cart

We'd have a live band rather than a DJ

So the day would esentially stay the same, just with all of the "nice to haves" that we decided against :D

    I would
    - have a bar tab
    - have my hair done by a hairdresser on the day
    - have my make up done on the day
-pay for the cottage my family are renting for the week of the wedding to be nearby
-buy a dress from a shop rather than the russian roulette i'm playing with chinese ebay dress makers
-pay for my sister/partner/niece to fly from Canada rather than them self funding
    - we aren't having wedding cars and still wouldn't bother but I would book 'posh' taxis to take my parents from the holiday cottage to me on my wedding day and then on to the registry office rather than asking them to come to me and then my dad drive me and my Mum there . Same for H2B and his parents as he is going there the night before the wedding and his parents are taking him in their car.
    - have 2 weeks away rather than 1 (we have a lovely cottage booked on the Giants Causeway but 2 weeks would be fantastic!0
-get a slightly more expensive reception menu. We are only having 18 guests but can only afford the cheapest per head menu
    -have a photographer
-some room decorations for the reception meal. At the moment it is a few silk autumn leaves on the tables!

That would probably take our total spend up to about 6k rather than the projected 3.7k.....we would bank the rest for our move abroad we are making in January - we would be completely set up for life!!!
