If you had a £50,000 would you do anything differently?

After reading about the "youngest gypsy bride" in the Daily Mail who had a £50,000 wedding, I was just wondering if there would be anything anyone would change if they had a bigger budget?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2147488/My-Big-Fat-Gypsy-Wedding-Britains-youngest-gypsy-bride-gets-married-50-000-celebration.html

I think the only thing I would change is maybe considering real flowers, I'm having fake flowers so I can get autumny coloured roses and I thought they would be more expensive in October.

Just thought of another thing.... my shoe budget would increase drastically!!

I literally cannot even fathom spending that amount. I mean... wow. If I had £50,000 to play with I.... god I don't even know! I'd hire a castle somewhere, have a beautiful fairytale wedding and absolutely pamper all our guests, have everyone stay for the whole weekend Friday to Monday, gift baskets in the rooms, personalise everything....

Although I guess in reality if I had £50,000, I'd be thinking of other more sensible things to spend it on :p

I would change two things if money was no object:
    1) A Royal Mail post box to put our cards in
    2) A Choccywoccydoodah cake!
  • I would never have spent £50k - but I could have easily doubled the budget to £15k. I would have had a band, fancy favours, better chair covers, a nicer venue...

I had a wonderful, amazing, fabulous day and I don't regret a thing that we bought/didn't buy. So I wouldn't change things if we were in our current situation. But yes, if I could have afforded that bit more then I would have!

I know this sounds holier-than-thou, but I would spend the money on my guests - free booze all night, pay for their hotels etc.
Everything else about our wedding was just as we wanted it.

I don't think fifty grand would get you all that!

I would pretty much leave things as they are but:

would buy a new dress rather than a preloved one, a car for my dad and I (we are having a 7 seater mercedes and will have the bridesmaids travelling with us), pay for transport for the guests from ceremony to reception, have a fancier wedding breakfast and a band on in the evening.

The rest I would use for a fab honeymoon for OH, the kids and I.

If someone gave me £50,000 there's no way that I'd spend it on the wedding :rotfl:

But if they gave it on condition that it HAD to be spent on the wedding, I'd still get married in my local church (awww) but then I'd fly everyone to the south of France for a week, hire a beautiful rambly old house and have a huge party! :D Lots of wine, fabulous food, day trips to vineyards and sailing on the Cote d'Azur... sigh.

I'd still wear my dress though - unless I could use some of the £50,000 for liposuction so that I could fit into a Jenny Packham!!! :rotfl:

With that kind of money I would be tempted to have the most low key, no guest ceremony and put it all away for a deposit on a new home. It's just too much money to spend on a party in a pub!

The bride looks like a mini-Jordan and the groom looks barely grown and terrified! Good luck to them :D

Fifty grand would be about doubling our budget so I don't think it would be a huge difference...certainly wouldn't stretch to covering everyone's accommodation or anything though in an ideal world thst's what I'd do.

But with double the budget...I'd pay for much more booze for everyone. A dj as well as a band. Hire a red bus to get everyone between church and reception venue etc. More expensive dresses and an extra bridesmaid. Hair and make up for all the bridesmaids as well as me. A harpist or string quartet or something for the reception drinks. A hog roast in the evening instead of the buffet. A 'midnight snack'. More fancy cars. More expensive shoes...!
