Car Insurance Repair Costs

My car has recently been deemded a write off by my insurance company.
Vehicle Value per engineers report = £2,161
Repair cost at recovery garage = £2,684
However ive argued with the insurance comany that the repair estimate given was extortionate and would like to get the vehicle repaired elsewhere.
Ive been given a quotation for £1,746 net (£2,096 gross).
My question...will the insurance company use the VAT inclusive figure? The garage assures me the insurance company DOESNT take VAT into account when agreeing figures but im unsure.
Thoughts?!

They will not repair it anyway. The cost of providing you with a hire car and dealing with the claim will easily be £500, so they will write off the car as it's easier for them and they will get several £hundred salvage for your old car.
If you really want it repaired then buy back the salvage from the insurance company and pay to have it repaired from the settlement.0 -
The value is based on pre-accident
your repair cost is not taking in post accident value.
The car will be a class C or D write off on the Vc-5 and its value substantially reduced accordingly, certainly lower than the £1746 figure.
Hence you need a re-thinkHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Ive been assured the car hire cost etc. are totally seperate. The only costs included are the repair costs. Thats what the insurarance company has told me anyway!
Its a non-fault claim so all costs will be recovered. Surly this means i get to decide what happens to it?! Would of thought they'd work in my best interests (which is to get it repaired)
If they write if off they'll at least have to pay out £2,161. Repairing it will be £1,746 (assuming VAT isnt included)...seems like a no brainer to me!
Note - the car hasnt 'officially' been written off yet, thats just there opinion from the origional engineers report.0
