Faulty sofa. Advice before I call the seller pls

Hi

Bought a lovely leather sofa- delivered on 27/1/11 (recliner chair also).

Clearly out of warranty

Noticed at the weekend that the leather over 1 seat on the sofa is cracked and threatening to tear through by the look of it. I think it must be a faulty piece ?

The rest if he sofa and chair is fine. Though the chair has been sat on much more.

What are my rights- if any? I understand it should be " fit for purpose" ....the purpose of a sofa being to sit on and last for an appropriate time - I assume a £500 plus sofa should last more than 16 months?

No I haven't " fed " the leather or anything- there were no instructions to do this and I note the rest of he sofa is still pristine.

Thank for helping me here. Or last sofa lasted 18yrs!
