mini cucumber - variety Greenfingers

Hi all,
I'm new to all this veg growing but on impulse bought a baby plant of the above variety. It's on my kitchen windowsill and seems to like it there.
Not sure where it should be or what to do with it?
It is at the moment one stem about 9 inches long, with 4 yellow flowers that have opened on it. There is a long tentacle thing growing off it as if it should be wound round something? Do I keep it on the window? Will it grow bigger? What's this tentacle thingy? How would I support any cucumber growing on it, surely they will be too heave for the plant to stay upright?
Sorry I sound really naive here but need really basic help.
Many thanks

Cucumbers are climbing plants. The tentacle thing [tendril] is looking for a branch, twig, net, cane whatever to help the plant climb up

I do not know the variety, try Google. But will be better off outside [depending where you live], or in conservatory

You will have to Google to see if it needs pollinating or the the male flowers removing. Older varieties did need male flower removing, newer varieties do not.

If it needs pollinating, and is indoors, then you are the bee, better use Google again to distinguish male from female flowers

    have a look here

A good choice for an impulse purchase.

It's an outdoors one and will grow to 9' so unless you've got very tall windows, I'd start to harden it off......detailed instructions on looking after it on the link above.

Sounds interesting - I'll have to keep them in mind for next year.

As for weight, you'd be surprised what these sorts of plants can carry if they have something sturdy to cling on to..
