im flying next week and i am planning to take some Krispy Kreme doughnuts for my friends.
Do you think that I would be able to take it into the aircraft with the new security rules in place. I dont want tocheck them in as they would probably turn iinto mush by the time i reach there.
UPDATE 30/3/07: Managed to fly with the Krispy Kremes:D
these links clarified the situation

Bag content – Foodstuffs
Can I take liquids in containers over 100ml?
Not in hand luggage, these have to be packed in your main baggage that you check-in to the aircraft hold.
What foodstuffs can I carry in my hand luggage? Can I take my wedding cake?
You can take most solid food, including wedding cake. Food in sauces or dishes that have a high liquid content will need to be in containers 100ml or less, and go into a transparent, re-sealable bag.
What about yoghurts or fruit juices?
Yes but these need to be in containers 100ml or less, and go into your transparent, re-sealable bag.

Ha Ha that is so funny! I'm guessing its a joke, but if not, I'd say no, especially if they have creamy fillings!
Depends how greedy the security staff are, my guess is they'll have em off ya!
Gready bstards0 -
and would also depend on where you are flying to, and what restrictions that country has on bringing certain items in.0

if your goign to the usa, what would be the point? but think it might be more trouble than what its worth0

Seriously, different airports uk have different rules, some more pedantic than others.
Then your destination has regs too, ie USA, agricultural law prohibits import of perishable items, but I'm guessing you are not going there as this is home of krispy kreme.
Said donuts in current UK security regs could well come under the liquid, paste restriction and be converscated. Unless they are of the plain sugar ring variety:D
To be safe, consider packing them in your checked in bag amoungst you soft clothing in a foody type zip up bag to protect them, and your clothing from grease.
They'll arrive fine, you wont be tempted to eat them on the plane and they'll be chilled in the baggage hold all the way:T0 -
I'd be very wary of taking any food, even doughnuts ,abroad, as when we flew to Brussels a few years an old lady was very shocked and actually nearly fell over, when at the baggage carousel the woman security guard asked her to open her flight bag and submit to a search of what was in it.The sniffer dog was trained to sniff out food, and the old lady got an awful fright. I'd imagine rules are even stricter now. Not worth the hassle for the sake of a few doughnuts, imho. Just eat them all before you go and tell your friends how nice they were.:rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

its an internal flight. So i dont need to worry about import/export rules.0

I've had the ones with the icing and hundreds and thousands confiscated because the hundreds and thousands could potentially be seen as a harmful weapon. However the creme from your donuts could be squirted in somebody's eyes and would potentially temporary blind someone. I would go for the plain ring donuts, mind you they could be used as flying saucers and whizzed acrioss the areoplane.
All sounds like great fun !!!0 -
he he!!!!!!Gone ... or have I?0

I would take them! I was looking out for some in New York last week but never found any. Only 5 places were listed in the phone book and none of them were anywhere near us. Now I'm planning a trip to Selfridges in Birmingham!0

I heard that the frosted ring donuts in a box are actually Krispy Kremes (can be bought in Tesco) - taste like their signature donut anyway!! My favourite K/Kreme is the Bavarian (choc icing on top with lovely vanilla centre) - if I took them on a plane they would be devoured by take off!! They have a shop now in Milton Keynes (near M & S), thank goodness I don't work in MK -!!!, and they used to have an outlet at Heathrow Airport.0
