I think a few of the OP's comments are aimed at me. If/when I get the chance or the inclination I will review what I said in my original posts and post back.

I have read through my original posts and in my opinion I was quite restrained. I was accused of making personal attacks which I clearly didn't do and I think my advice was in general OK (might not have been perfect) given the information laid before me.

I have re-read your "litigations officers" post that not only is on bold but excessively large typeface and I still struggle to understand what he means in his post, it just doesn't make sense in parts.

I think as other have intimated you got lucky.

    From the Forum Rules:
All info is the opinion of posters – it’s not our view. We have an amazing forum with a huge wealth of helpful info. Yet remember it's open to all, and sometimes messages are posted that are misleading or downright wrong, most users are helpful but there are always a few bad apples. Don't rely on information being accurate or complete. If you do, it's at your own risk. Please do your own research before acting.

When you're new to a forum it's always a good idea to check out the rules. :D

The dictionary according to the OP:

    Right - agrees with OP
    Wrong - disagrees with OP

It's amazing the number of people who come here for advice who (when posting against the general consensus) clearly know more than the posters. Makes you wonder why they bothered in the first place.

I have to reiterate what other posters have said, OP you didn't win and the advice you were given was correct. But the threat of legal action and having to fix the telly anyway was a no brainer for them to make you go away. They will not spend hundreds of pounds on a pointless point of law when they don't need to. If it did go to court you would have lost.

P.s this should have been on the vents thread anyway.

Another "I dont think the advice was wrong, you just got lucky" opinion here, personally.

actually both of these comments are somewhat correct.

You would have been deemed to have accepted the goods after 28 days. So SOGA states you can request either a refund, repair or replacement - however (and very important), the retailer can reject this if it is disproportionate in cost to another remedy. So the retailer can simply repair the product if that's the cheapest option.

OP a lot of peoplepost on here, for nothing, giving up their time to help people they don't know and will never meet.

I think you have been grossly unfair to the people who told you the law, which you could have found out by properly-worded internet searches

And Martin Lewis doesn't 'run' this forum. It is not moderated.

Are you saying the advice given in this section of the forum is rubbish? Because it is clearly not - lots of people have been helped to complain succesfully!
