Repair or replace Acer AL19 monitor?

Hello again techie people!
I am looking for good advice on wether it is worth repairing my 3 year old Acer AL19 monitor? It wasn't particularly expensive but I would rather avoid a big outlay for a new model, saying that I don't want to throw good money after bad either!

I have rarely had any problems with this monitor, but it has developed a problem with the colour, it looks like the blue is off and I find I cannot bring up the menu to try and adjust it (auto or manual) Possibly the brightness is now wrong too.

I tried footering about with the settings via the control panel, it's made a small improvement but nowhere near 'normal'
To give an example of how it actually looks, when I opened Photoshop, instead of the usual blue background, it's a horrible bile green colour. (I don't know if that's helpful or TMI)

Can anyone shed light on the problem and wether it is worth fixing or recommend a good budget to mid price monitor that is good enough to use with Photoshop and Painter?
Thank you for reading :)
Linda x

Have you checked the cable? Losing a colour is quite often due to a connection issue between the base unit and the monitor.

Thank you TadleyBaggie for the advice re connection.
I checked and there was a loose connection from cable to PC which I have fixed...but sadly the colour issue while possible marginally better is still not right :-(
I found it really difficult to tighten up the connectors as the (very untechnical description ) bit that you push the connector into on the pc had come loose from the inside.
I ended up using an adjustable spanner to hold the connection (jack??) in place against the pc wall, so that I could tighten the screws that hold it on, in order to get the cable end fixed on using the integral screws.
If that makes sense, I would be grateful if you could advise me further on what other steps I could take.

Monitors are getting close to being consumer items, so it may well be a recycling job. You will probably be asked £30-£50 for a local computer repair shop to look at it, plus whatever it costs to fix. We have some Acer AL1916As, AL1912s and AL1922HS monitors at work, and had no trouble with them (no consolation for you!).

You have checked that the problem is with the monitor by trying a replacement, have you?

What size and resolution of monitor do you want? And how much do you want to pay!

Later: I remember that our local computer recycler was selling second-user Acer screens, slightly marked, for about £50 a couple of years' ago...
