Hi guys

I could not find this question anywhere. So apologies if it has already been answered. I was just wondering when the best time to pay off a credit card is each month? So you dont get charged the interest on it. Its just a bit awkward when we get our statement through, its 3/4 way through the month, and I get paid the last day of every month. Will they change the date to pay the visa off so i can pay it the 1st day of each month so i dont get interest charged? I would phone them, but they can hardly understand English when I phone the call centre, so thought it would be easier asking on here :)

Thanks
martin

I thought most cards had 56 days interest free? I would suggest you check your card's T&Cs.
Thanks to everyone for the comp links

It's usually quoted as "up to" 56(ish) days.

Ok, thanks for the replys :) so as long as I pay within the 56 days (or whatever is on my T&C's) of the statement, then I will not get charged interest?
  • Can't you just set up a direct debit to take the full amount each month ? and yes If you call you should be able to pay your bill on a selected date by you, I am not sure if some banks will charge you a one off fee to do this but you wont know till you ask :-)

    Good luck..

to pay no interest you must pay in full after you receive the statement and before the 'pay by date'

if you have insufficient funds left when you receive the statement you need to start to budget better
in any event you need some savings for the inevitable unexpected expenses
