Hello everyone!
Our wedding isn't until next year but been thinking about how we can make the hall we are using more "weddingy"
The walls are quite dark so I was thinking maybe drapes or something, you know like in a marquee how they are....but how do I do this? I need to speak to the venue but I doubt they will allow us to attatch to the walls, so how is this done? Can anyone recommend somewhere to help with this or any other ideas to brighten the room so it feels like a wedding reception?
All ideas and thoughts welcome, Im sure there are others who might need some help and ideas too

What kind of budget do you have for it? You can hire an indoor marquee which is much like an outdoor one but... you have it indoors
I love the idea of them but they don't tend to be very cheap compared to sorting something out yourself.
What about.... some sort of tension rod either from floor to ceiling or wall to wall, that you could use to attach fabric to and could then be removed afterwards easily? I'm thinking of like you get for showers lol, something that creates a support for draping but doesn't involve making holes.0 -

We are on a tight budget, Im liking your thinking though...I wonder if more than 1 can go together to make it longer? Then could use voile curtains which could then be re-used after the wedding (very MSE) oooo thanks for the idea! :T:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

we have a hall too and you can do sooooo much, the great thing about a hall is you have a blank canvas to fill any way u want! fairy lights are a great way to go, add a bit of magic! and of course drapes, chair covers really make a difference. you can hire mood lighting relatively cheap, 2 for about £30 which could possibly be more than enough, depending on hall size. Thats what we having now instead of large drapes as they were little bit problematic. we originally brought in venue decorators who gave us great ideas and charged £2500 for it! so we sat down and worked out how to basically do it ourself, ALOT cheaper. also make sure u cover up any little bits that scream HALL like local notice boards, just pin a square fabric over them. hope this helps
