Travelodge luggage storage alternative?

Me and my friends are due to visit Edinburgh soon.

We have to check out of our travelodge by mid day (I think) but our train does not leave until 7pm.

I've called Travelodge up and they do not offer luggage storage, instead we would have to pay extra for late checkout which we would rather not do.

Would it be cheeky to go to say "an expensive" hotel and ask to leave our bags in their luggage storage before coming back to collect them pretending that we are guests?

Hi. Thanks but it does seem expensive and I would rather leave our bags at another hotel for free (if possible?)

Normally it is reception that organise this at time of check out, so I don't see how you pretending to be guests is going to work. Good luck though!

Personally I would pay the £7 and leave them at the station, at least you won't have to detour back to a hotel to collect your bags

Bus station at St Andrews Square has lockers which are cheaper than the train station
